How do I choose the right size?
Your body will change during your pregnancy, but also afterward. Our bras are made of soft, stretchy material, allowing them to gently grow with your body through every stage. The bra has no clips or clasps, and the stretchy material provides support in all the right places.
The best way to determine your size is to take a measuring tape and measure your bust and lower bust circumference. Our size guide will give you an indication of the best size for you.
Please note that after giving birth and at the beginning of breastfeeding, your breasts may become larger and heavier. This is normal and is part of milk production. We therefore recommend measuring your breast size before delivery or after your milk has been adjusted to your baby's needs.
What makes the bra leak-proof?
To explain this, we can best explain the different layers of the bra. Our bra consists of 3 layers.
Outer layer – 62% TENCEL™ Lyocell, 30% GOTS Cotton, 8% Elastane
The first layer sits against your skin and is made of TENCEL™ Lyocell and GOTS-certified cotton. This fabric is soft against the skin, flexible, breathable, antibacterial, antifungal, absorbent, and durable.
Absorbent layer – 85% TENCEL™ Lyocell / 15% Polyester
The second layer is made of TENCEL™ Lyocell and Polyester. This fabric is highly absorbent, absorbing and retaining the milk from the inner layer. This prevents the bra from feeling wet.
Membrane – 100% Polyester
The third layer is a membrane. This breathable membrane prevents the milk from leaking through to the outer layer and thus becoming invisible through your clothing.
These layers work together to give you leak-free feeding, wherever you are!
Does it really work?
Yes! The bra's leak resistance was our top priority. That's why we collaborated with experienced designers, fabric manufacturers, and workshops to create a design and execution that truly works.
Remember that we want to collect as much milk as possible in our bras, but we also want to ensure healthy nipples. Every woman's milk production is different. If you notice excessive leaking and your bra feels wet, wear pads or milk collectors at these times. You might notice this especially during breastfeeding or overnight. It's essential to ensure you're not wearing an oversaturated bra.
The amount of milk leakage will likely change and decrease throughout your breastfeeding journey.
Bacterial infections of the nipple can also cause mastitis, so make sure you don't wear saturated pads or bras for long periods of time to reduce the risk.
Is it good for the health of my nipples if the milk stays in the bra?
The material that sits directly against the skin is made of, among other things, Lyocell . Lyocell has naturally breathable and antibacterial properties, which protect sensitive skin.
Behind this layer is an absorbent layer that absorbs the milk. This ensures that the nipples don't come into direct contact with the milk.
It's important to wash your bra every day. If you experience excessive leakage, which makes your bra feel wet, we recommend changing your bra more often or using additional pads or drainage cups. Make sure you pay close attention to this yourself.
What is the best way to wash my bra?
The Mominti leak-proof bra is made of soft, breathable, and durable materials to offer you ultimate comfort. To maintain the bra's quality, it's important to follow the washing instructions.
We recommend washing the bra before first use to activate the leak-proof function.
Step 1 – Rinse
Rinse the bra thoroughly with cold water after use.
Step 2 - Wash gently to maintain softness
To maintain its natural softness, wash your bra on a gentle cycle, no warmer than 30 degrees.
It is best to use a laundry bag and mild detergent.
Avoid fabric softeners, bleaches and using an iron.
Step 3 Air dry
Air dry your bra lying flat or hanging by the elastic band.
Why do I have to wash my bra every day?
Our bras feature leak-proof layers that absorb and retain milk. To maintain healthy nipples, it's important to keep your bra hygienic and clean, so wash it daily. This prevents milk from remaining in the bra for too long.
We do ask that you don't continue wearing your bra if it's completely saturated. The amount of leaking breast milk varies from person to person, so use your own judgment and change your bra throughout the day and night if you have an oversupply and it feels very wet.
It's important not to wear a bra that's too saturated against your skin. You can always use milk collectors or nursing pads during feedings to help your milk supply grow. This is especially common during the first few weeks of breastfeeding, when your milk supply isn't yet attuned to your baby's.
How does the bra work during feeding, without nursing clips and sliders?
Our stretchy material allows you to pull the bra to the side and remove your breast for effortless breastfeeding. This way, there are no annoying clips to worry about while holding your baby or sleeping.
What's more, the absence of nursing clips means you can continue wearing the bra comfortably long after you've stopped breastfeeding, both during the day and at night. How sustainable!
What is Mominti's approach to sustainability?
We've worked hard to make the entire process, from design to materials, production, and delivery, as sustainable as possible. This is combined with ensuring comfort and proper functioning, such as leak-proof, stretchy, absorbent, and breathable.
All our materials are sourced from Europe, and our production takes place in a European workshop. We've selected all our suppliers to minimize transport between the various links in the chain.
The materials we've selected are also high-quality, ensuring the bra lasts as long as possible! The bra is also designed so you'll want to keep wearing it long after you've stopped breastfeeding.
Finally, we developed a leak-proof bra, not only to help you as a mom, but also to help the environment. The average breastfeeding mother uses around 1,500 disposable nursing pads per year. These are often made of unsustainable materials, often contain plastic, and take years to decompose. That's a huge amount of waste that we at Mominti wanted to reduce. By wearing a Mominti bra, you're helping us, and the environment, too.
