Sustainability
The average breastfeeding mother uses about 1500 disposable nursing pads per year. These are often made from unsustainable materials, often contain plastic, and take years to decompose. That's a lot of waste. Add to that the fact that these loose pads are often incredibly inconvenient, cause a lot of fuss during feeding, and are often visible through your clothing.
That's why at Mominti, we have worked hard to create a sustainable, leak-proof bra. One that is also feminine and super comfortable! Sustainability is reflected in all our choices. From our design, to our materials, our production process, and our packaging. We believe this is important for you as a mom, for our little ones, and for the planet.
The design
The bra is designed without distinctive nursing clips, is feminine in design, and supports the breasts in the right places. This makes the bra suitable during your pregnancy, during breastfeeding, but also long after. This way, the bra lasts as long as possible (=sustainable)!
The materials
All our materials are made in Europe and are selected for their sustainable character. For example, we work with TENCEL™ and all our materials are OEKO-TEX certified and PFAS-free. Better for you and better for the planet!
TENCEL™
One of the trademarks we work with is TENCEL™. TENCEL™ fibers are made from wood pulp. When a fabric carries this trademark, it means that the fabric meets the quality and sustainability requirements of Lenzing AG. For example, the wood used comes from responsibly managed forests, and a closed-loop system is used, in which 99% of the used water and the non-toxic solvent are reused in a subsequent TENCEL™ production process. In addition, TENCEL™ materials provide a natural dry feeling thanks to advanced moisture regulation, feel incredibly soft, are breathable, and inhibit the growth of bacteria. All important features for our bra!
GOTS-Cotton
GOTS cotton stands for cotton that is certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) – a globally recognized standard for organic textiles.
This certification guarantees:
-
That the cotton comes from organic farming (without pesticides or GMOs)
-
That it is processed in an environmentally friendly way (without toxic chemicals)
-
And that it is produced under fair, safe working conditions
In short: GOTS cotton is better for your skin, the planet, and the people who make it.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is a label for textiles that have been tested for harmful substances. It sets the standard for textile safety, from yarn to finished product. Materials with this label are safe and pose no health risks. All our fabrics, including our elastics, carry this label.
So with your Mominti bra, you are not only wearing a bra that feels good on your skin but is also good for the planet.
The production
Mominti is located in Spain, and production takes place in a workshop in Portugal. This keeps production close, allows us to visit easily, and limits pollution from long transport. Each Mominti bra is handmade in the workshop, with care, love, and attention to detail. So that you can enjoy your bra for as long and as comfortably as possible!
